Making A Difference
We are proud to welcome our students back for the 20/21 school year. The staff worked diligently to ensure all the new protocols have been established for a safe return and that our students remain healthy and safe.
I do not have to tell you that this year has brought challenges and changes that none of us could have anticipated. Early in March we had to close our doors and go to virtual learning to keep our students, staff, and community safe from the effects of a new and rapidly spreading virus.
Within 24 hours Austin’s teachers and staff pivoted to 100% virtual instruction and telework. We are incredibly proud of our teachers’ dedication, and parents had a new appreciation for their son’s and daughter’s teachers.
This summer, we shared in the horror and grief in the wake of the violent deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. St. Augustine reminds us: God loves us as if we were one. It does not matter what the color of our skin is or how much is in our bank account – we as a community need to remember to seek truth, love ourselves, love God, and love each other. These being part of Austin’s core values, our pillars: TRUTH| UNITY| LOVE. These are the values we know are fundamental to those who send their young adult children to Austin, and we continue to nurture them and guide them to becoming the leaders of tomorrow.
As you are aware the Austin Fund is the annual fund that supports the school throughout the year. Why should you support Austin… Austin Makes A Difference! We empower our students to develop the leadership skills to become the future leaders of tomorrow – students that are empathetic, philosophers, educators, truth-seekers, and doers. They can see all sides, not just one. At Austin, we develop and encourage the whole person, but we do it with the help of YOU, our Community.
We would not be celebrating our 10th year without all of YOU in our Community. As we continue in these unprecedented times, let us be reminded of God’s love for US and our love for Him.
If you have any news you would like to share with our Austin Community about where your life as a Friar or Crusader has taken you, please don’t hesitate to share it with us. We would love to share your accomplishments in our Austin Connection, and we welcome in addition your efforts to help the next generation of Austin graduates.
With all good wishes and blessings,
Kelli A. Horton
