Student Life
Austin
House System

Students are divided into “houses” comprised equally of Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores and Freshmen for spirit-building events throughout the year. The House System at Austin Catholic is designed to encourage both community and friendly competition between students in a supportive and inclusive environment, rather than pitting upperclassman against underclassman. The houses provide not only an increased feeling of identity and belonging, but they also provide students with a sense of tradition, and leadership and mentoring opportunities.
Austin Catholic has five houses, each named for an Augustinian saint: St. Alypius, St. Monica, St. Possidius, St. Rita, and St. Thomas. The House system and Teacher Mentor program are linked, as all students are assigned a Teacher Mentor based on their house. In this way, we reinforce the feeling of identity and belonging, and build Unitas at Austin Catholic High School.
