Summer Reading Lists 2023

"The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."

We know it’s summer, and ACHS students enjoy the freedom from textbooks and assignments. However, students must recognize the importance of continuing their reading habits during this time. Engaging in summer reading not only helps students maintain their academic skills but also offers a plethora of benefits that extend beyond the classroom

Beyond academic benefits, summer reading offers high school students opportunities to explore their interests, broaden their horizons, and develop a lifelong love for reading. With the freedom to choose books that align with their personal preferences, students can delve into subjects they are passionate about or explore new areas of interest. Reading during the summer also provides an opportunity for self-reflection, relaxation, and escapism. It allows students to unwind, reduce stress, and immerse themselves in captivating stories that transport them to different worlds. Additionally, reading can enhance empathy, improve communication skills, and stimulate creativity, all of which are valuable assets in both personal and professional realms.

ACHS Crusaders should prioritize summer reading to maintain their academic skills, expand their knowledge, and foster personal growth. Students can prevent the summer slide by dedicating time to reading over the summer break, exploring their interests, and developing a lifelong passion for reading. We know discussion questions and annotations can be overwhelming, so we’ve included some resources to help guide you. Let’s embrace the power of books and make reading an integral part of our summer plans.
