VISION STATEMENT

Austin Catholic High School STEAM Innovation Curriculum

In the Augustinian tradition, academic disciplines are linked so that minds are empowered to serve a greater social justice goal.  We envision a curriculum where teachers and students are inspired to work and learn simultaneously through inquiry and problem solving.  Students graduating from our STEAM program have a desire and drive for self-directed study and recognize the full integration of the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, arts, math and manufacturing.  Austin STEAM students are creative problem solvers, innovators, researchers, and collaborators who are empowered to make a lasting impact on our society.

Our Commitment to ClassRoom Experiences

Today, students of Anatomy and Physiology experienced first-hand how our cardiovascular system works, how to evaluate its function as well as practice taking blood pressure measures.

Thank you Mrs. Dornoff (alumni parent) for taking the time out of your busy schedule as a MSN RN AGACNP-BC Cardiac Surgery nurse. We appreciate you!

Students Design, Build Prosthetic 3D Arm

From Classroom to Real Life

On Friday, December 12, 2025, Austin Catholic High School STEAM students, as part of the global e-NABLE Project collaborated to size, 3D print, thermoform, build, string and deliver a fully-working, 3D printed prosthetic arm to third grader Kaysen Green, 9, of Rosy Mound Elementary, Grand Haven, Michigan. Download and read the press release here.

This story grew by one person networking with another, and the result was nothing short of a miracle. We encourage you to grow this blessing for Austin Catholic by sharing it! ❤

Austin’s Innovative STEAM Curriculum

A Commitment to Holistic Education

Austin’s commitment to providing rigorous curriculum that is individualized has never been more apparent than our STEAM program. Encouraging our students to go beyond STEM (the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics), and into the STEAM, a holistic education philosophy that also embraces the arts allowing for a depth of application and understanding. Courses range in traditional subjects to team taught cross-curricular courses and also inquiry research and project based learning cohorts.

Austin faculty have collaborated with STEM leaders from University of Notre Dame, University of Detroit Mercy, Engineering Tomorrow, First Robotics, and more to develop the program.

Traits of Austin's STEAM graduates:

  • Use software, including Office 365 collaborative Teams & share point, to plan, budget, create/design, write grants, and present for professional audiences.
  • Have a deep relationship and hands on connection between science, technology, math, engineering, art/design, and manufacturing to meet the demands of the future global economy.

Are Civics Ready:

  • Students will investigate questions across content areas and recognize global issues and social justice concerns through an Innovative Discipleship focus.
  • Contribute to democracy and become advocates for change by addressing problems they find in their community and thereby serve those in need.
