UPCOMING EVENTS & NEWS

Monday, June 22, 2026 – More than 100 Friars, family members and friends gathered today for the 26th Annual Alumni Golf Outing at Gowanie Golf Club in Harrison Township.

Participants enjoyed a perfect day on the course while reconnecting with fellow alumni and supporters of the Austin community. President Allison Hoover was on hand to assist with registration and welcome Friars throughout the day. The successful event was made possible through the leadership and dedication of Friars Bill Harrington, Class of 1963, Thomas DeCorte and Kerry Schaeffner, whose efforts helped organize another memorable outing.

Mark your calendars now for the 27th Annual Alumni Golf Outing on Monday, June 21, 2027, at Gowanie Golf Club.

A Championship Legacy Lives On

Austin Catholic High School holds a legacy so rich in athletic history that it remains relevant today. Among its most celebrated alumni is Dave DeBusschere, Class of 1958, who helped lead the New York Knicks to NBA championships in 1970 and 1973.

More than five decades later, the Knicks once again reached the pinnacle of professional basketball, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals on June 13. The victory secured New York’s first NBA championship in 53 years. The Knicks’ last championship came in 1973, when DeBusschere was a key member of the title-winning team, making the franchise’s long-awaited return to glory especially meaningful for the Austin Catholic community.

Austin Catholic High School proudly celebrates its connection to DeBusschere, whose excellence as an athlete, leader and ambassador for the game continues to inspire generations of Crusaders. His remarkable legacy remains a lasting source of pride for the Austin Catholic family.

Introducing the Anthony and Joyce Kasper Scholarship

Tim and Tom Kasper visited campus to meet with President Allison Hoover and establish a new scholarship for incoming freshmen in honor of their parents’ legacy.

The Austin Catholic community extends sincere gratitude to the Kasper family for this meaningful investment in future Crusaders. Their generosity will help support the school’s Augustinian mission by expanding access to an education rooted in faith, scholarship, community and service.

Their father, Anthony Kasper, a proud member of the Class of 1956, leaves a lasting legacy that will continue to shape future generations of Austin Catholic students.

Here, President Hoover holds the Mass card of Friar Kasper. His obituary is linked here.

Back to the Halls Alumni Tours

A lot has changed since you last walked these halls, and President Allison Hoover would love to show you around campus. Friar and Crusader alumni are invited to return and experience the school’s incredible growth firsthand.

Your Austin Catholic experience carries lasting pride, credibility and achievement worth sharing, as we continue to build your legacy!

Here Friar Bruce Fleury, Class of 1970, and his wife toured Austin Catholic on May 7 during a Back to the Halls Tour led by President Hoover. During the visit, the couple listened as Mrs. Hayden explained the 3D-printed prosthetic arm created this winter by the senior STEAM Team for a third-grade student at Rosy Mound Elementary in Grand Haven.

An Evening of Faith, Community and Augustinian Fellowship

Austin Catholic High School was well represented by Joanne and Board of Director Secretary Bill Harrington, Anne Berschback, Father Bernie Sienna, and President Allison Hoover at the Augustinian Gala on April 24, 2026, at the Drake Hotel in Chicago.
In the spirit of St. Augustine, the evening celebrated a shared commitment to community, faith and the pursuit of truth. All proceeds support Augustinian vocations and men in formation, retired and infirm friars, and missions in Peru.
