A Friar of Many Hats & Talent

Friar Donald Serafano M.D., Class of 1963, shared the following memory, Friar Serafano writes:

“Mr. Thomas Bailey was my French teacher, head of Drama, and Forensics. He helped me develop many talents.”

Serafano’s shared memory reflects his humility, especially considering that his education, career, and credentials far exceed the modesty of his words.

In just eleven years, Serafano completed his undergraduate studies, medical school, internship, residency, and fellowship—ultimately becoming an Anterior Segment Surgeon specializing in Refractive and Cataract Surgery with Intraocular Lens Technology.

His academic and professional honors are too numerous to list here, as are his current roles, which include professor, chief medical officer, medical examiner, faculty member, educational consultant, and consultant for surgical centers and pharmaceutical companies. These achievements and activities are proudly detailed on the dedicated Friar Alumni webpage.
